We have a lot of data in our lives.
Too much, it seems.
And the tricky part, is not to get more information, but to figure out what information we want to track and keep
Here’s my list of what data I constantly track/keep:
- budget & daily expenses – A must. It is like second nature now
- tasks to do — I keep a short list in my Windows sidebar
- appointments – I am a stickler for having appointments. I hate ambiguity here
- errands — Mostly grocery lists, or my 3-Things-A-Day
- projects & deadlines — I only work on projects in my line of work.
- blogs — This one, FB and Style on a String.
- contacts — Gotta know who to call.
- logins/passwords — I keep a hard copy written in cryptic & an e-copy
- recipes — I like to cook and am starting to get into baking

Lord… I keep a budget, a to-do list contained in a too-large planner (I'm really missing my small student planner. I bought this one thinking it was more "professional."), grocery lists and grocery receipts which I use to calculate future shopping expenses, list of assignments for my classes, doctors appointment, one blog but too many blogs that I try to read on a daily basis (And I have the annoying habit of feeling like I need to read through all archives before reading new stuff.), contacts, business cards that I'll probably never need… The list goes on and on! Now that I've de-cluttered the apartment, I need to work on de-cluttering my LIFE!

I find Evernote.com to be my best "keeping track of everything" tool and, best of all, its free. I used it to organize my wedding in May, and I use it to keep my day job (C.O.O. of a non-profit), my e-coaching business and all details of my very complicated life in order. I wrote a short piece on how I use it to keep track of favorite wines. You can find it here: http://www.organize-more-stress-less.com/home/201...

I really need to work out some way to keep track of my various logins/PWs – any ideas?
I use Google Calendar, my phone calendar (sometimes it's a pain having two esp. if I leave something off one of them and forget it altogether).

I usually keep bank PWs separate (and check daily, so I memorize them), and then I have another password just for emails. Then another just for other sites in general.
Maybe you could figure out a way to sync Google with your phone?

In addition to the things you mentioned, I also have a wishlist of things I want to buy, read, and do.

I also keep a list of the (few) things I have in storage on my parents' attic, together with a note why or for how long I'm storing it.

Oh that's a good idea. I'm only temporarily storing things in my parents' home until we move to Dallas. Then we'll move all of our stuff with us, and only leave stuff like clothes and a spare laptop there for when we visit & don't want to tote stuff.

I'd like to hear your reading list
Right now, I have Grapes of Wrath (yes, I've never read it), The Narcissism Epidemic and Paco Underhill's "What women want" (about retail strategies & psychology of shopping) on there.

Haha, my reading list is 36 titles, and most items go off the list not because I read them but because I prune them (i.e. decide not to read after all – probably a good thing and a benefit of using a list).
A few highlights: Oráculo by Gracián, Letters from a Stoic by Seneca, Herman Hesse, Allan & Barbara Pease (about men & women), The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, and LOTS of hyped business guru and psychological books (I should prune here).
