Paris is admittedly not really my favourite city in Europe, but it is still magnificent. My first time to Paris, I was bitten by oak leaf mites within a day, and I was absolutely, utterly miserable in Paris with something akin to chicken pox.
I couldn’t really enjoy the sights because I was covered from head to toe in long-sleeved shirts and pants, sweaty, annoyed and very itchy.
My second time around (this time), we got to relax some more.
We even made it into the Louvre and spent a few hours there (too short of a time, I think). I enjoyed Paris a bit more, shopped a heck of a lot more, and it is now my second or third favourite city in Europe (I don’t like many).
I find it too something, some of the metro stations are just beyond disgusting and the quality/availability of good, delicious food has dropped a bit since I last went back.
To put it this way, we make better baguettes at home in our bread maker, than I could ever buy in Paris. That, is sad.
