10 Baby Steps to Minimalism: #10 Clean up one messy pile

My last tip is just to look around your home.

ONE day a week (Saturday or Sunday perhaps), choose a pile to clean up and organize.

It isn’t the whole room, the whole area, or the whole house.

Just one little pile.

It can be a huge pile of mail, or a big pile of unsorted books that haven’t been stacked on your bookshelf.

Once you’ve sorted through it, either donate or toss the item and stop the pile from growing again so you can concentrate on another pile hidden somewhere in your home.

If you have a whole junk room (as I’ve seen), then mentally map a grid of the room, and clean a pile in the room per week.

Soon, the whole room will get clean, if you stop dumping junk in there.
