How to Simplify your Life and Save More Cash

Want to save more money on your monthly expenses? You’re not the only one. We’re living in a world where things like food, rent, and taxes seem to be getting more expensive, yet somehow, our wages and income never go up. The good news is that even if you don’t have a great income, you don’t have to give up on having some extra cash aside for your savings.

To help you prepare for the arrival of the new year, we’ve put together some quick and simple tips that anyone can use to simplify their lives and save more cash at the same time.

Let’s take a look.

1.    Make More Food than You Need

Here’s the thing, we all love a home-made meal, but more often than not, we don’t have enough time after a busy day at work to actually make the food that we’d like to eat. That’s why a lot of people spend a serious amount of cash on food that’s designed for quick consumption – like McDonalds, or KFC.

However, there is another way. The next time you make one of your favorite meals, make a little more than you actually need. You can then put that extra food away in the freezer and take it out later when you want to eat it again. Just make sure that you put the food you want to freeze in a microwave-ready container.

2.    Spend More on the Right Things

This might sound counterintuitive, but sometimes you need to spend a little more to save more in the long-term. For instance, if you’re buying a new car, it’s generally a good idea to take out a loan so that you can get a newer model, rather than paying for an old banger that you’ll have to spend a fortune repairing.

Think carefully about the things that you might need to spend extra on in your life, and don’t be afraid to pay out more when you need to.

3.    Have an Email Address Just for Offers

Want to get deals and sale information from your favorite companies, but don’t want to deal with an email inbox that’s constantly overflowing? No problem, just make yourself a new email that’s specifically for receiving deals from other brands.

You can use your “deal email” to sign up for freebies and money-off coupons from companies that might end up filling your account with spam – without having to worry about wading through that information every day. Just remember to check through this email address once in a while to get the most of the deals.

4.    Buy Non-Perishable Stuff in Bulk

If you blow through things like deodorant, shampoo, and conditioner all the time, then why not take advantage of the sales when they’re on and stock up? Every now and again, your favorite non-perishable items might be available for a price that’s a little lower than usual. When that happens, get a couple of months’ worth at a time. That could mean that you end up spending more of your budget than you expected that month, but you’ll benefit from additional savings in the long-term.

Remember, non-perishable items that you can buy in bulk include everything from toilet roll and kitchen roll to your favorite kitchen supplies. You might even be able to use discounts in-store in combination with vouchers to get a better deal.

5.    Stay In Once in a While

We spend a fortune buying our homes and turning them into places that we love. Then for some reason, whenever we’re not at work, we’ll spend a ton of money just to get out of the house. Why not take advantage of one of your biggest investments and stay in from time to time instead? Invite your friends and loved ones over for a potluck meal and a movie night.

Try playing some of those board games that have been gathering dust on your shelves for a while, or just get together to talk. You’ll save a lot of cash this way.

6.    Buy Clothes that Go With Everything

Finally, the next time you’re buying clothes, think about which items will go with some of the wardrobe staples that you already have. Rather than buying a coat that will only go with a single pair of shoes, buy boots and jackets that you can wear for any occasion.

You could even look into buying a few statement accessories that you can use to dress your casual outfits up when you’re going on a night out!
