Change your attitude

In line with the New Year, instead of making a New Year’s Resolution (I usually only make one, and I make it achievable), why don’t you just reflect on yourself from the last year?

Were you happy?

Did you want to change something, but felt like the fates were against you?

Did you ever repeat this: I would love to do that, but I can’t because that’s just who I am.

Well, I’m here to tell you that you may be holding yourself back from making the change.

And I call it self-sabotage!

Kind of weird right? Why would YOU want to sabotage YOURSELF?

But we all do it.

For example, you may decide that you want to be more organized this year.

changed-priorities

You can make a choice, and decision to NOT be a messy, disorganized clutter bug.

People who have called you messy, disorganized, or a clutter bug your whole life, aren’t experts on who you are by any means, now are they?

So what if they called you “Messy Maria” your entire life?

It isn’t who you are. And it isn’t who you want to become.

People CAN change.

But if you say you are a messy person, then you will always stay a messy person.

If you say you will never get out of debt, then you will never get out of debt.

If you say you will never be able to ask for a promotion or get a better job, you will stay exactly where you are, forever.

If you think a certain way and are set in that attitude, then nothing in the world will help you.

No amount of money, anything you read, or anyone you come across will magically change it all.

People who say they cannot change, because they were born messy, or born to avoid conflict and cannot say no, are people who don’t want to change.

So stop talking, and start doing.

Make the change mentally, and repeat it to yourself every day if you must.

What you really want, will start to come true if you realize that you aren’t meant to be or act  a certain way forever.

Dust yourself off, forget about the problems in 2009, chalk it up to life experience and look to the New Year with renewed vigour.

So what do you want to change your attitude about this year?

Thank you for the reminder about how our own attitudes can either open up new worlds are close the lid on our coffins. I think this is valuable information even for those of us who like to set numerous resolutions and stretch goals.

As far as my own decluttering, I had a fit last nite and found myself tossing a bunch of stuff at midnite as my babies slept. It was liberating in many respects, chief among them, that I realized I can’t control anyone else’s clutter in my household but I can definitely control mine.

    Happy New Year to you.

    Regards,

    Charley

Thanks to the post, I decided to reflect on the last 10 years, which seemed like it went by so quickly. A lot of things happened, and it’s good to reflect on all those key moments that occurred and remember their impact. Thanks for the reminder to take time to look back.

That’s what I tell my parents when I see them put things in my old (still sometimes used) room that shouldn’t be there.

“if it goes into my room, it’s MY clutter right?”

    Then I chuck it.

Obama needs to cut the Section 8 programs for woman who continue to give birth, they obviously have a partner who can support them, the only exception he should make would be the elderly and sick, If Obama really wants to make a change he needs to clean house from the inside, Get rid of Wic and EBT for criminals, pedophiles and drug dealers…
