Not only very expensive… Did you thought about the CO2 and all the chemical waste which would be produced by making such an amount of solar panels.
And what’s about all the batteries we need to store the energy for using during the night?
And what’s about the long (very long) power lines from the Sahara to Western Europe?
At the end, it’s not that easy…

Sorry, I didn’t notice the approval procedure.
I think, a mix of solar power, wind technologies, geothermal energy and hydropower will help us a lot to save the world, but we will need also oil, coal and gas for a long time. So a lot of research power should be put into developing power saving technologies!
