Affluenza: Do you, or did you suffer from it?

I did. This really takes me back to my days dabbling in Sociology, when I first read the term “Affluenza” in a book and was instantly hooked.

…and makes me want to purge my closet again although I am SURE I will grab a whole bunch of stuff out of the Donate pile because they can be handy backup clothes to leave at my parents’ place.

What a cool video! I consider myself a minimalist, but that may be more in style than in actual habit!
But yes, less is more. And after my move and all th cahs I doled out in October, I'll be having a cup of tea or exercising the next time I feel mad/sad/glad/bad! I have everything I need, don't need any more!

I've never heard the term affluenza before, but the video is very interesting. Of course, when I was watching the video, I was thinking, "I'm not this bad," "This is totally not me," etc. But, I know I still have too much stuff. And even if we get rid of all the stuff, are we using our time helping those who are need? Another thought-provoking post. Keep 'em coming!

  Affluenza I think was coined way back in 2000 when someone wrote a book with that name. A lot like \”influenza\” but the disease is overconsumption.

That was great! First time heard the term "affluenza" -it really is like a virus though isn't it. I'm doing a final purging before we move and it's great. I can't wait to see how LITTLE stuff we have! Having made over 4000 euros selling our stuff also makes me feel so much better about the money I used to spend.
I will enjoy the extra space – not fill it with things, but have more room to spread out and play, and cook, and bake, and take baths!

  4000 EUR.. wow! That\’s amazing. I\’m so happy for you. I made maybe $1000 off what I sold off my closet but not much more.. I think the space is what appeals to me the most.
  
  I\’m living in a hotel now, and I\’m feeling like the furniture is crazy. I\’m so annoyed with the amount of furniture, I can see how much space is there without it, that it makes me even more minimalist!

Haha, learned a new word today. At first I thought you were talking about influenza.

Until 3 months ago, I suffered from it. Not anymore. My money stays in my bank account, and I only try to buy the things I really need! (But that's not easy though!)
