I used to pay $2.00 to use the dryer each time I did laundry, but I’ve since cut that out, and now I dry my things in my apartment, and I use:
- hangers for light items that won’t stretch out
- backs of chairs
- my ironing board
- ..and for anything that will stretch I lay them flat on a towel and flip the clothes & towels occasionally
The only time I use a dryer is when we wash our bedding — trying to drape that over chairs is very cumbersome.
It’s worked out pretty well for us, as we have clothes that dry easily and don’t need much maintenance.
My clothes are more wrinkly than if they came out of the dryer, but I feel good not using the dryer unless I need it, and even more pleased about the $$ I’m saving.
I wish I could dry my clothes outside (the sun naturally bleaches your whites to be whiter!), but that just isn’t an option here.
So it made me think of a whimsical post about how creative people around the world dry their clothes, seeing as a lot of them probably don’t even have the option of using dryers.
