I am living in a hotel again

Part One was about 3 years ago, but now it has happened again.

I am officially living in a hotel (I am paying for it 100%) for at least until the end of this year, so about 5 months.

I was unofficially living out of a hotel 2 months ago, but I had another apartment to go home to, so it wasn’t technically the same.

The price is outrageous compared to if we were to rent an apartment but that’s because I can’t bloody find one that is quiet enough to live in, on such a short notice.

I have one suitcase and 2 carry-ons, with a ensuite kitchen so I can cook, so I’m happy.

I am also going to go through another wardrobe purge, because I do think I have too many things (still).

Does anyone want me to write a post on any of the above?

Please be specific as to what you want me to write about. Thanks :D

I would love to see a post on re purging :)

Great information & ideas you always have!

    Thanks

Well it must be a nice hotel if it’s “quiet” or quiet enough. I can see a few weeks of hotel living, but December is a long time away. I think I would go nuts knowing someone has a key to my room and could come in at any time (maid service).

Would love to see your purging process :) I do have too many things, I think, but I'm at a point where I don't know what to let go so a little inspiration would be nice. Thanks!

I will try. Try very hard.

This is wild. I for the first time am living in an extended stay lodge for about as long as you plan to and have dove deeper into the minimalist lifestyle. I have been researching the net on the topics of minimalism and living in a hotel room and I came across this post and your site. This is great. I'll be reading your post. Take care and thanks for sharing. David.

I lived out of a hotel 2-3 years ago, and that\’s how I started embracing minimalism. Hopefully you will do the same and love it :) Or find that it\’s not for you!

I'd like to see you post your tips and "tricks of the trade" so to speak on living out of a hotel or extended stay room. The one thing I worry about is the not having my license changed after 60 days as required by my state when you move. How do you deal with stuff like that when you have no permanent address?

I would like to read about your wardrobe purge. I really like the 30 pieces of a minimalist's wardrobe post you wrote, and refer to it often as I am trying to create that type of closet for myself.

Got it. Wardrobe purge. Erg.. I\’m really a bad example of this because I love clothes too much :\\ But I shall try!

I've really enjoyed reading your blogs. What about a post on the re-purging process? How has it worked as you deal with another situation where you have very limited packing capability, and thus cannot take all your things with you? Especially since those are all things that passed the test before. Did you just change your mind about items over time, decide certain ones are less important than overstuffed bags, or find that you didn't mind the lack of wardrobe variety?

Anything further about your second hotel room stay & paring down would be interesting, really. Thanks!

Okay :) Thanks for letting me know!

I guess I'm just a bit curious about the setup…don't most hotels cost a lot of money? Or have you negotiated a rate with the hotel? Will you continue to look for an apartment in the meantime to lower your costs? And does your mail get forwarded to the hotel?

I guess those are some questions you could answer in a future post :)

Oh god it costs a fortune but I can\’t help it. We aren\’t staying past December. I\’ll do a post :)

I just want to know why you're living in a hotel again? Is BF living with you?

I'd love pictures of your new abode!

And how are you going to deal with laundry, food prep, etc?

    I'm so curious.

I love your blog! This is my first time commenting, but I'm a long-time reader. I have no problem packing up for a weekend or even longer away but decluttering my space at home is so difficult. As you say, the more stuff you have the more you are tied down to one location. For me, I tend to attach emotions to some things (my sewing machine, photo albums, china from my great aunt) so I could never pack them all up into one suitcase. How do you reconcile the minimalist lifestyle with sentimental things?

  • Decor

So that means you no longer have an apartment? What about your BF?
