The Quick Overview of What to Wear and What to Pack When you Travel

Never check anything in

This is a rule I follow no matter where I travel to.

Unless I am moving, I don’t check a single bag in. Everything is in my easy-to-reach tote purse or my carry-on suitcase.

…but if you must, be sure to bring your outfit & must-haves on the plane

This way, if everything of yours gets lost, you have enough to see you through at least a day or two.

Wear your business casual outfit or suit on the plane — DO NOT PACK IT AWAY!

Many a person has been caught in just jeans and a t-shirt on the plane, with their luggage proclaimed lost.

Some, have had to even go to their meetings dressed inappropriately as a result.

Don’t be a victim of poor planning.

Wear flats

Stylish, rubber flats make a real difference when you are sprinting for your flight because security took for-ever!!!

Wear minimal amounts of makeup

Honestly, I just put an SPF moisturizer on, carry a lip balm, and dab a bit of concealer under my eyes and dab on some blush so people don’t cluck at me and say: Ohh poor thing.. you look so tired! It must have been the flight.

Keep your hairstyle simple

No gel, no mousse, nothing mad.

(Actually, I don’t use any of those items on a regular basis, so I’m set.)

I usually bring a ponytail holder, and leave my hair down, with a headband to hold back the small pieces. That’s it.

I’d wrap it up in a chignon bun at the back, but then the headrest becomes decidedly bumpy.

Wear loose dresses and clothing

Comfort is Queen. You don’t want to be fidgeting with an ultra tight sheath dress on the plane.

Besides, how are you going to be able to tuck a leg under your thighs? :P

Choose wrinkle-resistant fabrics

Jersey, cotton, silk or cashmere.

Sunglasses are a must

It’s BRIGHT up there!

Grab a pashmina (large scarf)

It doubles as a blanket.

Make all of your items do double-duty

Don’t bring your glittery casual top on a business trip.

Wear business casual everything for the most part and just switch into jeans and flats.

    Great tips!
I always travel with plastic flat shoes (Melissa flats or Crocs Alice Work), they can be washed and dry fast, easy to remove in the airport check, comfy, quiet… I also like my Cozy Wraps from DKNY. I have two of them. One I worn as a sweater and the other as a scarf. I also layer dress for flights, with neutral colours (black, beige and white) and plain designs, for weather and formality reasons. Usually I wear cotton socks, pressure tights, trousers, tank-top, shirt, light sweater/scarf x 2, jacket. I never wear a belt nor a watch so it’s very easy to pass customs. I also wear the headband and hair band. I like to make a loose braid on the side for the flight. Looks pretty and relaxed. Once on land I put it in a high ponytail. I don’t like styling product either, just a tiny bit of anti-frizz serum. I also like to use baby perfume for travelling. It’s less invasive for other passengers and very soothing and fresh for me. I bring a lipbalm that I can rub on my fingers and nail for fighting the dryness, and a compact powder with sunscreen for freshen up. I hide a tiny amount of my cream blush on the lid of my lipbalm so that I can give myself a bit of colour on my cheeks or lips if needed. Sugar-free chewing gum is a must, too. For skiping a toothbrush and helping with the pressure on the eardrums.
