Add beauty to your space without adding bulk
Attack your walls!
But don’t start installing shelves or hanging paintings yet.
What I am talking about, is painting on the walls, adding wallpaper, decals or interesting pieces of art without adding bulk or centurion conservatories and extra items into your homeĀ (this is a minimalist blog, after all ).
I have never imagined minimalism as being ONLY stark white or grey with deep wood tones, although many people choose to go that route.
You can be a minimalist but have personality on the walls, if you don’t have a view to compensate.
Just as long as you don’t add bulk
Be creative with paint
A little bit of paint can go a really long way, from changing a dull room to a lively one.
But instead of just painting everything in one colour, think about painting one wall in a different colour, also called a “focal wall”.
Take a look at this room:

Ignore all the STUFF there, and just focus on the fact that the walls are pink, and the fireplace is white.
It makes the fireplace area stand out more, and the sides be an interesting visual with a pink background.
You can also use two different types of paint.
Check out that focal wall there.
Sure, it’s wallpaper, but you can replicate something similar if you buy two shades of dark grey paint.
Paint the base wall in the lighter dark grey matte paint.
Start stenciling out a pattern.
Then paint the stencil in a a darker grey paint.
And there you go! A new wall with just paint.
You can also use paint as a headboard, and choose to frame it, or leave it as is.
